Is Passageways difficult to install or to learn and use?
Passageways has been designed with ease of use in mind, simplicity for managers and users, flexible administration and a clean and friendly interface. Installation is simple and performed by an experienced Portal Installation Specialist, taking approximately 2-3 days remotely via WebEx including tests to ensure that your portal is running well within your environment. Once you have your portal up and running, you can start with content and customizations right away. Your client account manager can guide you through the use of your new portal.
What is the difference between the Passageways Portal and an intranet?
An intranet is typically built in-house or started off small and is geared more towards simple publishing of information. Intranets typically do not include the flexibility to scale up as your organization grows. The Passageways Portal Framework not only includes simple information publishing features but also includes rich Alerts functionality which your applications can take advantage of, workflow modules including automated timesheets, expense reports, and help desk management. The portal also includes a powerful set of search engines which you can use all at once in a Federated Portal Search!
Can I brand Passageways to our own corporate look and feel?
During the installation process, the Passageways installation team will attempt to brand your portal for you. If you don't like it, no problem let us know and you'll get one revision of your branding on us! After that it's easy to change your branding using our complete Branding Guide written specifically to teach you where and how to brand your portal!
Is it difficult to publish and maintain content?
Not at all. Publishing rich content is as easy as using Microsoft Word. No special software is required only a browser to publish and edit content!
How would I secure content on the portal?
Applications can be secured by workgroup or role membership throughout the portal so you have extremely flexible ways of limiting access to specific pieces of content such as your board of directors areas or special committees.
Can I prevent certain staff from even seeing content in a specific area?
All content is presented within workgroups, or groups of people. Workgroups can be created by anyone. Only members within a workgroup can see the content within it. This makes it easy and simple to separate content into departments, branches, committees, and more!
How do I set up user profiles?
During the installation process, all of your employees will be imported automatically so when you get started, your employees have a basic profile set up already! Employees can always change basic elements of their profile at anytime and Administrators can modify profiles of any employee.
Can you set up role based security and access control?
Role-based security is standard within the portal. Permissions for applications are granted by role, employees can browse the entire organization's role members and more to easily find who the loan officers are or who the managers are.
Can you delegate ownership of content to other departments or users?
Absolutely, any workgroup manager can grant permissions for that workgroup to any other member. This is common since department heads and managers typically want others to be responsible for different portions of a department's workgroup.
Can you bring Outlook onto the portal so everyone can access their Inbox, Personal Calendars, and Task Lists?
Yes, using the Microsoft Outlook 2000 Module, you can bring your full Outlook Inbox, Calendar, Tasks, and Contacts all onto a single page or combine any of those items with other portal features such as News or Announcements on a single page!
Can you link to third party applications or our own web development?
There are unlimited options for bringing in other applications or web sites. You can create new pages that link directly to web sites, bring in web site content on a page next to other rich applications, or even build your own modules to plug right into your portal! Our Support center provides a developer's area where you can view walk-through tutorials on building your own portal applications, download development guides, and even share ideas and questions with other developers at other client sites developing on Passageways!
How many users will Passageways support?
Our current client base spans organizations with as few as 20 users, to as many as 1000+ users. The majority of our clients are between 100 and 400 users.
