The Passageways Portal runs on either an existing server or one you purchase new. To help you determine the type of server you need, please use the recommended requirements outlined below. While we strongly recommend against it, you may run other applications on the same server. |

- Depending on the server hardware selected, a single processor* license is typically all our customers require. For additional SQL Server licensing requirements and explanation please see the SQL Server licensing information on the Microsoft site. We also support the Enterprise version. We do not support the Workgroup version because of the built-in memory usage restrictions and we do not support the Express version because of the memory and database size restrictions.
- *Microsoft Windows 2003 64-bit with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 64-bit is not supported.
- *Microsoft Windows 2008 64-bit with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 64-bit is not supported.

What about the x64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003?
While we have not formally tested the Portal application on the x64-bit version of Windows Server 2003, the Portal is currently runningin a number of customer sites in the x64-bit environment.
Does the Portal support SQL Server 2000?
In part because Microsoft has discontinued mainstream support for SQL Server 2000, we no longer support SQL Server 2000. SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition is the recommended version of SQL Server.
Does the Portal support SQL Server 2008?
While we have not formally completed testing of the Portal application on SQL Server 2008, full support for SQL Server 2008 is planned for 2009.
Does the Portal support Internet Explorer 8?
While we have not formally completed testing of the Portal application on IE 8, full support for IE 8 is planned for 2009.
Does the Portal support Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 4?
Yes, however because Microsoft has discontinued mainstream support for Windows Server 2000, we suggest that organizations using this version plan to upgrade in the near future.
Does the Portal support Windows 2008?
While we have not formally completed testing of the Portal application on the 32-bit version of Windows Server 2008, the Portal is currently running in a small number of customer sites 32-bit environment. |

* Microsoft, according to their website, charges the same price per processor regardless of the number of “core” processors that make up the chip. For example, a dual core processor and a quad core processor would require only a single processor license.
