Meet Anthony Beery Bennett, a Sales Development Representative based out of our Indianapolis office. Since joining Passageways in March of 2019, Anthony has been hard at work creating interest for our products and getting to know potential customers. He’s enthusiastic about the comradery he’s found among his team, a group he calls “fun and electric.”

Before joining Passageways Anthony dreamed of becoming a rock star. Some might call that ambitious, but Anthony has a musical background – rocking out in his youth on the drums in a heavy metal band. We sat down with Anthony to talk about what his days are like, how he prepares to talk to new people about our products, and what he loves about working with fellow Pathfinders.

In your own words, what do you do?

My job is to tee up our account executives with the best opportunities possible.

What is a typical workday like?

It varies; each day is different. I do a lot of pipeline building, so I try to get into the office early and get some calls under my belt. We have a lot of new SDRs, so I answer a lot of their questions, and I continue to learn each day.

What is your fondest memory of working at Passageways?

The new hire lunch with Paroon, our CEO. It was a good chance to get to know him and see how passionate he is and what his goals for the company are. It says volumes about him that he is willing to take time to get to know new employees on a personal level.

What is the craziest or silliest thing to ever happen at work or a work event?

Reena [Gangwani, SDR Manager] organized a scavenger hunt through Indianapolis that was pretty crazy. I ended up singing with a gondolier on the canal. We went and danced by the Ann Dancing sign on Massachusetts Avenue, but it was turned off, so we were the only ones dancing. My team ended up getting second place in the scavenger hunt!

What makes Passageways unique compared to previous jobs you have worked?

The industry is what brought me to the position. I had a friend who went to a tech role. He was telling me “This is where it’s at. You should check companies like us out.” So I did. And I think the biggest thing that stuck out to me is that I’ve never heard of unlimited PTO in my life. I thought it was super cool that these companies were allowing their employees to work flexibly. I was always a big believer of, if you can’t trust your employees to work flexibly, then why are you hiring them in the first place? Here, it’s not about sitting in your chair and doing something from eight to five to keep yourself busy as a day job. Paroon is very attached to it and he’s very mission-driven and I relate to that on a very spiritual level. I keep everyone I work with deeply passionate, and I think that stems from a trust in us, it makes me feel empowered.

What is something your co-workers would be surprised to learn about you?

Everyone typically seems surprised when I tell them I was in a heavy metal band in high school, so we’ll go with that. I was the drummer.

What do you do when you’re not at work?

I started going to the gym steadily. I’m not a morning person at all, but I’ve been getting there at, like, 5:30 a.m. Going out and meeting new people is fun. My weekends are often filled with that.
