I’m writing to share great news, for us and our now 1000+ customers. Passageways recently raised an investment that we’ll be using to attract new talent and to speed up the delivery of new solutions that will empower and reward your continued growth as a collaborative enterprise.
Crossing the 1000 customer threshold and taking on new funding are both landmarks of note, and I’d like to take a moment to tell you how we got here and what we see for the future.
Prelude: How We Got Here
2003 with $100k in seed capital from Purdue Federal in West Lafayette, Indiana, we quickly carved out a niche within the financial services space with our first product now called OnSemble. #DormroomStartup
2007 we earned a spot on the Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing businesses in the United States. Over the next couple of years, we diversified into other markets and customized our product for targeted use in boardrooms.
2011 our boardroom collaboration experiences, which required multi-device, multi-organization cloud and mobility functionality beyond OnSemble’s original design, led us to create a new platform called OnBoard. #MobileEverything
2016 the OnBoard platform completely transformed our company and what we could do for our customers. We started to apply the lessons we learned through OnBoard’s growth into our steady OnSemble business, with both enjoying rapid adoption in over a dozen countries. #ScaleUp
June 2018 we introduced Employee Options to include our employees into our ownership structure, empowering us to attract the best and the brightest to join our journey ahead. Personally, this was one of the most satisfying and long overdue milestones we’ve achieved! #OwnerTenacity
July 2018 new funding empowers the pursuit of new ideas, enables unprecedented market access, and initiates an evolved governance structure to Passageways. #BootstrappingNoMore
Now the fun begins. Given our strategic investments, expertise with cloud infrastructure, and the huge growth we are seeing from North America and Europe, we’re situated to Inspire and enable teams to do their best work!
What We See Ahead
We are encouraged and optimistic about what we’ve built with you over the course of this journey. Looking ahead, we’re even more invigorated about how corporations are evolving and how that evolution is creating demand for solutions that simply don’t exist today (but are completely in our wheelhouse to develop).
Collaboration needs have outgrown corporate fences.
In the early 2000s, when organizations started using the internet, corporate portals were the right solution. Back then, we helped piece together information views for new productivity. Today, mobile technology has given rise to a distributed workforce always on the go. This mobile workforce has outstripped the tools available to it to achieve meaningful, secure, and ultimately business-driving collaboration.
New rules. New tools.
With everything we’ve learned through the years, we have set out to create the World’s Smartest Unified Enterprise Collaboration Platform. As we continue to invest in OnSemble for employee collaboration, and in OnBoard for board collaboration, we’re creating bilateral systems of collaboration that link the proverbial breakroom all the way through the enterprise and right into the boardroom, addressing a thousand pain points for businesses at every layer of an organization.
We believe the collaboration cloud we’re building will help every single one of our customers and allow us to refresh the underlying software that powers OnBoard and OnSemble, at a much more rapid pace.
The new fuel allows us to go faster with you, for you.
We’re here today because everything we do starts with listening to you. We are driven to listen more acutely and solve for your business challenges even more aggressively. We already have a fantastic team of 75 Pathfinders, who are knowledgeable and passionate about solving hard problems, but now’s the time to really cover ground both in terms of helping you evolve smarter and offering the world a better solution, so we’re adding another 30 new employees in the US, UK, and Canada to deliver more, faster.
Teams matter, and will always matter.
We’re motivated and driven by the goal of inspiring and enabling teams in a meaningful way. You have led us to where we are today. We’re proud of everything we’ve achieved—our product, the customer community, and the Passageways team—and we can’t wait to see what else the future holds.
